FAQ Cinesteam®

What is Cinesteam®?

Cinesteam® is a spice-based anti-odor dressing : it contains cinnamon which has the property of adsorbing bad odors and releasing pleasant smells.

How does Cinesteam® work?

Cinesteam® is a non-adhesive secondary dressing designed to eliminate unpleasant odors and to absorb exudates when the primary dressing is saturated.

Where do odors come from?

Odour results from the emission of organic volatile compounds detected by the sense of smell. To become an odor, the odorous compounds have to be captured by the olfactory system and are then transformed into a signal that can be detected by the brain.

What is Cinesteam®’s intended use?

Cinesteam® is a secondary dressing indicated for the management of malodorous wounds (e.g. cancer wounds, infected bedsores and leg ulcers.).

How should Cinesteam® be fixed in place?

Cinesteam® can be kept in place using a retaining bandage or a nonocclusive adhesive to obtain optimal fixation.

How long can Cinesteam® be left in place?

Cinesteam® can be left in place for as long as its absorption and odour masking capacities are satisfactory (1 to 7 days). Frequency of change should be dependent on the level of exudate.

To remove Cinesteam®, gently peel it off.

What should be avoided with malodourous wounds?

Do not use occlusive dressings.

Can Cinesteam® be used for a wound that produces a profuse exudate?

It is necessary to use a suitable primary dressing for this kind of wound. Cinesteam® can then be used as an anti-odor solution such as a secondary dressing to alleviate bad smells.

Can Cinesteam® be cut?

Cinesteam® should not be cut as this would cause cinnamon leakage.

Is Cinesteam® waterproof?

Cinesteam® is not waterproof.

Can Cinesteam® be used directly on the wound?

Cinesteam® is not a primary dressing and was not designed to be placed directly on the wound.

Can Cinesteam® be used with another dressing?

Cinesteam® has to be used with a primary dressing in contact with the wound.

How should Cinesteam® be stored?

The box of Cinesteam® dressings must be stored flat and kept away from sunlight.

Can Cinesteam® be used twice?

No, Cinesteam® cannot be reused.

If I am allergic to cinnamon, can I use Cinesteam ?

Can I sleep with Cinesteam®?
